Malabar Training College, Peravoor, affiliated with Kannur university

&approved by NCTE,New Delhi organized The “Wealth from Waste

Materials” initiative conducted a Bottle Art Making event on October

10,2024.The event aimed to encourage environmental consciousness and

artistic creativity by repurposing discarded bottles into decorative and

functional art pieces. The event was inaugurated by INDU .K MATHEW

(principal Malabar Training College) ,who highlighted the importance of

recycling and sustainability.

In today’s world, waste management has become a crucial issue, and

creative recycling is one of the best solutions. Bottle Art Making, as a part

of the “Wealth from Waste Materials” initiative, showcases how discarded

bottles can be transformed into beautiful and functional art pieces. This

not only promotes sustainability but also opens up opportunities for

entrepreneurship and innovation. The primary goal of this initiative is to

encourage people to explore artistic and eco-friendly ways to reuse waste

materials. By repurposing old bottles, individuals can contribute to

environmental conservation while also creating valuable decorative and

utilitarian items. All students designed and decorated bottles using acrylic

paints, fabric, beads, and other recyclable materials. Used glass or plastic

bottles are gathered from households, restaurants, and waste collection

centers. The bottles are thoroughly cleaned, labels removed, and surfaces

prepared for painting or decoration. Then Various techniques such as

painting, decoupage, beadwork, mosaic, and engraving are applied to

enhance the aesthetic appeal of the bottles.

Bottle art making is a perfect example of turning waste into wealth. Through

creativity and innovation, discarded bottles can be transformed into

valuable decorative pieces, lamps, flower vases, and even functional home

decor items. Encouraging such practices at both individual and community

levels can significantly contribute to waste reduction and sustainable

living. The programme was a great success, with enthusiastic participation

and beautifully crafted bottle artworks. It served as a reminder that waste

can be turned into wealth through creativity and responsible practices.
