VEGETABLE HARVEST FESTIVAL


The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit 101 of Malabar Training College successfully conducted a vegetable harvesting program from the college’s vegetable garden on October 28, 2024. This initiative promoted community service, teamwork and sustainable living practices.


Background:

The vegetable garden, established under the supervision of Narayanan, is strategically located within the college campus. This garden exemplifies the college’s commitment to sustainability, providing students with hands-on experience in organic farming.


Inauguration:

Principal Dr. Indu K. Mathew inaugurated the program, emphasizing community engagement, environmental responsibility and the garden’s educational value.


Leadership and Participation:

NSS Program Officer Preetha Kuriakose and NSS Coordinator Hisana led the event. Students from every department participated in harvesting under class leaders’ guidance, fostering unity and teamwork.


Harvested Produce:

Green chilies, tomatoes, cucumbers, kandhari chilies, brinjal, ladies finger, pea,papayas were harvested. College Union Chairman Vishnu made the first purchase, followed by enthusiastic buying from teachers and students.


Objectives achieved:

1.⁠ ⁠Community Service: Strengthened bonds between students, teachers and the community.

2.⁠ ⁠Environmental Awareness: Highlighted sustainable gardening practices and organic farming’s importance.
