OZONE DAY CELEBRATION


Ozone Day, celebrated annually on September 16, aims to raise awareness about the depletion 
of the ozone layer and its consequences. Physical science option at Malabar Training College
organized activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of ozone protection on 
September 24. The activities included a quiz competition and an online poster-making contest, 
fostering creativity and knowledge among students. This report outlines the events,
participants, and outcomes of the day's activities.

The celebrations commenced in the General Hall of Malabar Training College on the 
afternoon of September 24, 2024. The event was well-attended, highlighting the importance 
of environmental awareness among the college community. The quiz competition was a focal 
point of the day's events. The quiz competition led by quiz master Aswathi C K, who skilfully
managed the proceedings and engaged participants effectively. The competition featured ten 
groups, each comprising two participants. The competition was structured in two levels. All 
ten teams participated, answering a series of questions related to ozone and general 
knowledge. The top five teams from the first round advanced to the next level, where the 
questions were more challenging and required deeper knowledge. After an intense 
competition, the winners emerged. The winners of the quiz were Aparna K and Sulfath from 
the Mathematics option, securing the first prize. The second prize was awarded to Yadhupriya 
and Aparna C V from the English option. 
Alongside the quiz, an online poster-making competition was also organized. This event 
encouraged participants to creatively express their understanding of the ozone layer and the 
significance of its conservation. Numerous posters were submitted from various options within 
the college, reflecting a wide range of artistic talent and highlighting the significance of ozone 
conservation. Hisana A T from the Malayalam option claimed the first prize, while Jameelathil 
Misla from the Social Science option secured the second prize.
On September 26, 2024, during the physical science assembly, the prize distribution ceremony 
took place. The principal, Indu K Mathew distributed the prizes for the winners of both 
competitions.

In alignment with the ongoing commitment to environmental education, Physical science 
option of Malabar Training College also conducted an intercollegiate poster-making 
competition in the name of ‘Draw Zone’. This event aims to encourage students to showcase 
their creativity and knowledge and also provided a platform for academic engagement and 
collaboration among colleges.

The Ozone Day celebrations at Malabar Training College successfully combined education and 
creativity, engaging students in meaningful discussions about environmental protection. The 
quiz competition and poster-making contest not only provided a platform for students to 
showcase their knowledge and artistic skills but also underscored the collective responsibility 
of safeguarding our planet.
